Camelback Mountain via Echo Canyon Trail

Camelback Mountain is one of the most popular hiking trails near Scottsdale. To get to the top and witness the spectacular beauty of Arizona below, you’ll need to hike up Echo Canyon Trail. The hike is considered difficult – it’s 2.4 miles and heavily trafficked, but features beautiful wildflowers on the way. Make sure to bring plenty of water as the trail is subject to extreme heat, but once you get to the top, you’ll feel accomplished and gorgeous views of the city below!

Tom’s Thumb Trail

Tom’s Thumb Trail is a short switchback trail from Tom’s Thumb trailhead to Tom’s Thumb spur at the intersection of the Windgate Trail. This 4-mile trail is also heavily trafficked and more difficult, but you’ll see beautiful views and nature the whole hike. Once you get to the top, you’ll have a gorgeous view of the southern Mcdowell Mountains and urban Phoenix. When you’re under the Arizona sun, it’s important to stay hydrated, so make sure that you bring water when you hike this trail!

Marcus Landslide Trail

This 4.1-mile trail is an interpretive trail with signs along the way that describe the geological forces that led to a landslide long ago. It’s a fairly easy trail, aside from the final loop section. There are many beautiful boulders, rock formations, and wildflowers along the way. At the top, you’ll see beautiful views of the surrounding area – Four Peaks, Mount McDowell, and Weaver’s Needle.
